How to add Zoom live classes to Tutor LMS courses with ZooMeet

If you want your Tutor LMS students to join live Zoom classes from the course they are already taking, you’re in the right place. This guide shows you how to attach ZooMeet meetings to a course page and to a lesson, step by step.

A course can list many meetings in a Live sessions block. A lesson shows one meeting as a card at the top. Enrolled students join with one click, and everyone else sees the schedule with a way to enroll.

By the end of this guide, you will have:

  • The Tutor LMS integration turned on in ZooMeet
  • A Zoom meeting in the Live sessions list on your course page
  • A live session card at the top of a lesson
  • Only your course students able to open the meeting
  • A clear picture of what visitors, students and instructors see

Estimated setup time: 10 minutes. You never need a shortcode; everything happens in screens you already use.

Note: Requires ZooMeet Pro.

Before you begin #

Make sure you have:

  • An administrator account on your WordPress site
  • At least one Tutor LMS course, with a lesson if you want a lesson card
  • A Zoom account you can connect to ZooMeet
  • A Tutor LMS instructor account, if you want instructors to schedule their own classes

Let’s get started.

Step 1: Install Tutor LMS #

First, make sure Tutor LMS is installed and activated. ZooMeet adds its live sessions to Tutor’s own course and lesson pages.

  1. In the WordPress admin menu, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin.
  2. Search for Tutor LMS.
  3. Click Install Now, then Activate.
Add Plugins screen with the Tutor LMS search result highlighted
Installing Tutor LMS from the WordPress plugin directory.

Step 2: Install and activate ZooMeet #

ZooMeet installs from the plugin directory too. The LMS features live in ZooMeet Pro, so you add that next.

  1. Go to Plugins > Add New Plugin.
  2. Search for ZooMeet.
  3. Click Install Now, then Activate.
Add Plugins screen with the ZooMeet search result highlighted
Installing the free ZooMeet plugin.

To use the Pro features in this guide, add ZooMeet Pro from inside ZooMeet. There is nothing to upload.

  1. In WordPress admin, open ZooMeet and click Upgrade, then complete the checkout.
  2. Go to ZooMeet > Account. Your license shows there, and ZooMeet offers to install ZooMeet Pro.
  3. Install ZooMeet Pro, then activate it.

Step 3: Connect your Zoom account #

ZooMeet cannot create Zoom meetings until it is connected to your Zoom account. If you already did this, skip to Step 4.

  1. Go to ZooMeet > Settings and click Connect.
  2. Paste the Account ID, Client ID and Client Secret from your Zoom Server-to-Server OAuth app.
  3. Save the settings and check that the connection succeeds.

Read our step-by-step Zoom setup guide for the full walkthrough, including how to create the Zoom app.

Step 4: Turn on the Tutor LMS integration #

The integration switch controls every Tutor feature in this guide. When it is off, ZooMeet hides the course and lesson pickers, the Live sessions block and the lesson card.

  1. In the WordPress admin menu, go to ZooMeet > Integrations.
  2. In Categories, click Courses & LMS.
  3. On the Tutor LMS card, switch the toggle on. The card shows Active.
ZooMeet Integrations screen with the Courses & LMS category open and the Tutor LMS toggle highlighted
The toggle saves on its own; there is no Save button to click.

Now comes the main part: adding a meeting to your course. You can do it from the ZooMeet meeting form (Steps 5 to 7) or from the Tutor course builder (Steps 8 and 9). Both save the same links, so pick whichever fits your routine.

Step 5: Open the meeting form (Access and controls) #

You can attach a new meeting or one you already have. The course options sit in the Access and controls step.

  1. Go to ZooMeet > Add New Event, or open an existing meeting from ZooMeet > All Events to edit it.
  2. Fill in the Meeting name, then the date and time, as usual.
  3. In the steps on the left, click Access and controls.

The Add to a course card lives in the Access and controls step.

Step 6: Add the meeting to a course (Add to a course) #

The Add to a course card reads “Show it on a course page or in a lesson.” It lists the courses you can edit, grouped by LMS.

  1. Scroll down to the Add to a course card.
  2. Click the Course field and type part of the course name.
  3. Pick your course under the TUTOR LMS heading, for example Photography Basics.

Courses are grouped by LMS, so a Tutor course is easy to spot.
  1. In Show it on, keep Course page, or pick a lesson. Lessons are grouped under their topic.

Pick Course page for the Live sessions list, or a lesson for a card inside that lesson.
  1. Click Add to course.

If the lesson already has a meeting, the card warns you before you replace it.

To show the same meeting in a second place, use the Add another field and repeat these actions.

Important: A lesson holds one meeting. When the lesson already has one, the card says Replaces “…” on this lesson. Adding yours swaps the old meeting out of that lesson.

Step 7: Choose who can join and create the meeting #

Every place you added appears as a row. Who can join decides whether the meeting stays with your students.

  1. Check the rows. Click the X on a row to remove it.
  2. Next to Who can join, click Change.
  3. Choose Course students (the default) or Anyone with link.
Add to a course card with a lesson row and a course page row, and Who can join open with Course students selected
“Plus instructors and admins. Page access still applies.”
  1. Click Create meeting at the top of the form, or Update meeting when you edit.

ZooMeet creates the Zoom meeting, then saves the course links.

Important: Course students narrows who can open the meeting page. It never opens a page that your other access settings keep closed.

Step 8: Add events from the Tutor course builder (optional) #

You can also attach meetings while you edit the course in Tutor LMS. This is handy when you plan the whole course in one place.

  1. Open the course in Tutor’s Course Builder, on the Basics step.
  2. Scroll down to the Zoom live sessions box. It reads “Shown on the course page.”
  3. Click Add events.

Each row shows the meeting state, such as Live now, and its start time.
  1. Type in Search events and click an event to add it.
  2. Click Done when you have the meetings you want.

The refresh button reloads the list after you create a meeting in another tab.
  1. To change access for the course’s meetings, click Change next to Who can join.
  2. Pick Course students or Anyone with the link.
  3. Click Update at the top of the course builder to save.

“Instructors and admins too.” Anyone with the link needs no enrollment.

Tip: Need a new event? Create a Zoom event opens the ZooMeet meeting form in a new tab. Instructors land on the meeting form in their Tutor dashboard.

Step 9: Add a live session to a lesson (Curriculum) #

A meeting inside a lesson shows as a card at the top of that lesson. It fits a class that belongs to one part of the course.

  1. In the course builder, go to Curriculum.
  2. Hover over the lesson and click its edit icon.

  1. At the bottom of the lesson sidebar, open Zoom live session.

  1. Click Update at the top of the lesson window to save the lesson.

Discard Changes closes the window without saving.

Important: Pressing Escape or clicking Discard Changes closes the lesson without saving your pick. Always click Update.

Step 10: Let instructors create meetings from the Tutor dashboard #

Instructors do not need WordPress admin. When the integration is on, users with the Tutor instructor role get a Zoom Events item in the Tutor LMS front-end dashboard.

  1. Log in as an instructor and open the Tutor Dashboard.
  2. Click Zoom Events.
  3. Click Add new event to open the same meeting form you used in Steps 5 to 7.
  4. In Access and controls, use Add to a course to attach the meeting to your course or lesson.

Instructors see only the courses they created or co-teach. Administrators see every course.

Step 11: See it on your course page #

Your meeting is saved and attached, so the course page already shows it. Check it the way a visitor does.

  1. Open a private browser window, so you are logged out.
  2. Go to your course page, for example Photography Basics.
  3. Scroll to Live sessions, above Course Content.

Enroll to join takes visitors to Tutor’s own enroll button on the same page.

Benefits of using ZooMeet with Tutor LMS #

  • Two ways to attach: Use the ZooMeet meeting form or the Tutor course builder. Both save the same links.
  • Classes for enrolled students only: With Course students, only enrolled students, course instructors and administrators can open the meeting.
  • A reason to enroll: Visitors see the live schedule and an Enroll to join link.
  • No raw links on the course page: Join now opens the ZooMeet meeting page, which checks access first.
  • Live sessions never touch progress: A meeting is not a curriculum item, so course progress stays the same.

Your students get one place to learn and one place to join class.

What your students see #

Enrolled students #

While a session is live, enrolled students see Join now. Upcoming sessions show Details, and ended sessions with a recording show Watch recording.

Inside a lesson #

The meeting shows as a Live session card at the top of the lesson. Before the class starts, it shows the day, the time and a small time zone label, plus a countdown in the last 24 hours.

On the meeting page #

Students who open a meeting from a course get a Back to course link at the top of the meeting page.

Logged-in users who are not enrolled #

They see the same list as visitors, with Enroll to join and no join button.

Troubleshooting #

The Zoom live sessions box or Zoom live session field is missing #

Both need ZooMeet Pro and the Tutor LMS integration.

Check that:

  • Tutor LMS is switched on in ZooMeet > Integrations.
  • ZooMeet Pro is active.
  • You opened an existing course in the course builder. A course must be saved once before the box appears.

The Add to a course card says “No courses yet” #

The course picker lists the courses you can edit. Instructors see only courses they created or co-teach; administrators see every course.

Check that:

  • The instructor is the course author or a co-instructor in Tutor LMS.
  • Or create a course with Create a course in Tutor LMS, or ask an administrator to attach the meeting.

Students do not see a Join now button #

Join now appears only while the session is live, and only for people who may join.

Check that:

  • The student is enrolled in the course.
  • The session has started. Before the start time, students see Details.

To let anyone join, set Who can join to Anyone with link.

“For students of this course” appears for someone who should have access #

The meeting is set to Course students, and this person is not enrolled in any course that holds it. Administrators and the meeting host always get in.

  1. Enroll the person in the course, or
  2. Change Who can join to Anyone with link and click Update meeting.

The Live sessions block does not show on the course page #

The block only appears when a meeting is attached to the course page itself.

Check that:

  • The meeting is attached with Show it on set to Course page. Meetings attached only to a lesson show in that lesson.
  • Tutor LMS is switched on in ZooMeet > Integrations.

My lesson pick did not save #

The Tutor lesson window saves only when you click Update in its header.

  1. Open the lesson again from Curriculum.
  2. Pick the meeting in Zoom live session and click Update.

The Zoom Events item is missing from the Tutor dashboard #

The item shows only for users with the Tutor instructor role, and only while the integration is on.

Check that:

  • The user is an approved Tutor LMS instructor.
  • Tutor LMS is switched on in ZooMeet > Integrations.

Frequently asked questions #

Do I need a shortcode to show meetings in a course? #

No. ZooMeet adds the Live sessions block and the lesson card to Tutor pages for you.

Can I attach one meeting to several courses? #

Yes. Use Add another in the Add to a course card. A course can hold many meetings; a lesson holds one.

No. Join now opens the ZooMeet meeting page, which checks access first. The Zoom link stays behind that check.

Does a live session count toward course progress? #

No. The meeting sits on the course page or inside a lesson. Students still complete lessons as usual.

What happens when I delete a meeting? #

ZooMeet removes it from every course and lesson it was attached to, so no broken cards remain.

Can instructors attach meetings without WordPress admin? #

Yes. They create meetings from Zoom Events in the Tutor dashboard and attach them with Add to a course.

Security best practices #

  • Keep Who can join on Course students for paid or private classes.
  • Share the course page, not the Zoom link. The meeting page checks access every time.
  • Give the Tutor instructor role only to people who should schedule classes.

You’re ready to run live classes in Tutor LMS #

Your Tutor courses now list their live Zoom sessions, and lessons can show a live class card. Only your students can join, and instructors schedule from their own dashboard. Next, set up the same flow for another LMS or fine-tune your meeting pages.
