- You're ready to run live Zoom classes in LifterLMS
If you run LifterLMS courses and want live Zoom classes inside them, you’re in the right place. This guide shows you how to connect ZooMeet to LifterLMS and attach Zoom meetings to your courses and lessons, step by step.
A meeting can sit on the course page, at the top of a lesson, or both. Students see the date and time, a countdown when the class is close, and a Join now button while it is live. The raw Zoom link never appears on the course page. You can attach meetings from ZooMeet’s meeting form, the course editor, the lesson editor or the LifterLMS Course Builder.
By the end of this guide, you will have:
- LifterLMS, ZooMeet and ZooMeet Pro installed and activated
- Your Zoom account connected to ZooMeet
- The LifterLMS integration turned on
- A Zoom meeting on a course page and inside a lesson
- Only enrolled students able to join, with instructors and admins always allowed
- A clear picture of what visitors and students see
Estimated setup time: 10 minutes. Attaching a meeting never changes course progress, because the meeting is not a curriculum item.
Note: Requires ZooMeet Pro.
Before you begin #
Make sure you have:
- A WordPress site with administrator access
- A ZooMeet Pro license, for the Pro features in this guide
- A Zoom account with a Server-to-Server OAuth app for ZooMeet
- At least one LifterLMS course with a lesson, for example Public Speaking Basics
Important: LifterLMS and Tutor LMS both use the lesson post type, and LifterLMS and Academy LMS both use the /course/ address. Running them on the same site can clash, so run one of them per site.
Let’s get started.
Step 1: Install LifterLMS #
First, make sure LifterLMS is installed and activated. ZooMeet adds live sessions to LifterLMS courses, so the courses need to exist first.
- In the WordPress admin menu, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin.
- Search for LifterLMS.
- Click Install Now, then Activate.

If LifterLMS is already active on your site, skip to the next step.
Step 2: Install and activate ZooMeet #
Like LifterLMS, ZooMeet installs from the WordPress plugin directory.
- Go to Plugins > Add New Plugin.
- Search for ZooMeet.
- Click Install Now, then Activate.

To use the Pro features in this guide, add ZooMeet Pro from inside ZooMeet. There is nothing to upload.
- In WordPress admin, open ZooMeet and click Upgrade, then complete the checkout.
- Go to ZooMeet > Account. Your license shows there, and ZooMeet offers to install ZooMeet Pro.
- Install ZooMeet Pro, then activate it.
Step 3: Connect your Zoom account #
ZooMeet cannot create meetings until your Zoom account is connected.
- Go to ZooMeet > Settings and click Connect.
- Paste the Account ID, Client ID and Client Secret from your Zoom Server-to-Server OAuth app.
- Save the settings and check that the connection succeeds.
Read our step-by-step Zoom setup guide for the full walkthrough, including how to create the Zoom app.
Step 4: Turn on the LifterLMS integration #
ZooMeet only adds its fields and lists to LifterLMS pages when the integration is on.
- In the WordPress admin menu, go to ZooMeet > Integrations.
- In Categories, click Courses & LMS.
- On the LifterLMS card, switch the toggle on.

Note: When the switch is off, ZooMeet hides the Zoom live sessions boxes, the Course Builder field, the Zoom Events dashboard tab and the Live sessions list on LifterLMS pages.
Now comes the main part: attaching meetings to your courses. Steps 5 to 8 use ZooMeet’s meeting form. Steps 9 to 11 show the same thing from the LifterLMS side.
Step 5: Open Access and controls in the meeting form #
You attach a meeting to a course from the same form you use to create the meeting.
- Go to ZooMeet > Add New Event, or open an existing meeting from ZooMeet > All Events to edit it.
- Fill in Meeting name and the date and time as usual.
- In the step list on the left, click Access and controls.

Step 6: Pick the course (Access and controls) #
The Add to a course card reads “Show it on a course page or in a lesson.” It lists every course you can edit.
- Scroll to the Add to a course card.
- Click Search courses and type part of the course name.
- Choose your course from the LifterLMS group.

Step 7: Choose where it shows and add it #
A meeting can appear in the course page list, or as a card at the top of one lesson.
- Open Show it on.
- Keep Course page, or pick a lesson. Lessons are grouped under their LifterLMS section names.

- Click Add to course.

To show the same meeting in more places, pick another course or lesson in Add another and click Add to course again. The button turns grey with “Already added.” when you pick the same place twice.
Step 8: Choose who can join and save (Access and controls) #
Each place you added appears as a row in the card. Who can join decides whether the meeting is for enrolled students or open to anyone with the link.
- Check the rows. Click the × on a row to remove that place.
- Next to Who can join, click Change.
- Choose Course students or Anyone with link.
- Click Create meeting, or Update meeting when you edit.

Note: Course students is the default. Enrolled students, the course’s instructors and admins can open the meeting page. Everyone else sees Enroll to join on the course page.
Step 9: Or attach meetings in the course editor #
If you are already editing a course in wp-admin, you can attach meetings there without opening the meeting form.
- Go to Courses > Courses and edit the course.
- Scroll below the content to the Zoom live sessions box: “Shown on the course page.”
- In the meetings field, search and pick one or more meetings.
- Next to Who can join, click Change and pick Course students or Anyone with the link.
- Click Save (or Update) to save the course.

Tip: Changing Who can join here applies to every meeting on the course. If you leave it as it is, only newly added meetings take the setting.
The meetings field offers your own meetings, live and upcoming first, plus any already on the course.
Step 10: Add a live session to a lesson in the Course Builder #
Many LifterLMS instructors build their courses in the Course Builder. Each lesson there has its own Zoom live session settings group.
- Open the course in the LifterLMS Course Builder.
- Under the lesson, click Settings.

- In the lesson panel, scroll to the Zoom live session group.
- In Event, pick an event, or None to remove it.
- Click Save changes.

Step 11: Or use the lesson editor #
The lesson editor has the same field in its sidebar.
- Go to Courses > Lessons and edit the lesson.
- In the sidebar, find the Zoom live session box.
- Pick a meeting, or None, then click Update.

Tip: All these places save the same data. A meeting added in the ZooMeet form shows up in the course editor and the Course Builder, and the other way round.
Step 12: Manage meetings from the LifterLMS dashboard #
Instructors who do not use wp-admin create and edit meetings from the LifterLMS student dashboard.
- Open the LifterLMS dashboard page and click the Zoom Events tab. It sits after My Courses.
- Click Add new event to create a meeting, or the pencil icon to edit one.
- In the meeting form, open Access and controls and use the Add to a course card as in Steps 6 to 8.

Each start time shows in the meeting’s own time zone. When that zone differs from your site’s, the zone name follows the time, for example Tomorrow, 3:21 PM US/Eastern.
Note: Only administrators and LifterLMS instructors see the Zoom Events tab; students never do. Instructors see only the courses they can edit in the course picker. The Create a Zoom event link in the course and lesson boxes opens this tab for instructors, and ZooMeet in wp-admin for administrators.
Step 13: See it on your course page #
Once the meeting is saved, it appears on the course straight away.
- Open the course page on the front end, logged in as an enrolled student.
- Find the Live sessions list above the syllabus.

While a session is live, the row says Live now and has a Join now button. Upcoming rows get a Details button, show the day, the time and a small time zone label, and start a countdown when the class is less than a day away.
Benefits of using ZooMeet with LifterLMS #
- No links to paste into lessons: Each meeting gets its Zoom meeting and meeting page when you save.
- The Zoom link stays with enrolled students: Course students keeps the meeting page away from anyone who is not enrolled.
- Four places to attach a session: Use the meeting form, the course editor, the Course Builder or the lesson editor. They all save the same data.
- A dashboard tab for instructors: The Zoom Events tab on the LifterLMS dashboard needs no wp-admin access.
Your students find every live class right where they study.
What students see #
Visitors and logged-in users who are not enrolled #
The course page shows the Live sessions list above the syllabus. It lists dates and titles with no join link, plus one Enroll to join link that jumps to the LifterLMS enroll button.

Instructors and admins #
Course instructors and admins see the same buttons as enrolled students, without Enroll to join.
Inside a lesson #
A lesson with a live session shows the meeting card at the top, labelled Live session, under the LifterLMS back link.

The card has the same states and buttons as the course list. A visitor who is not enrolled gets an Enroll to join button that opens the course page.
On the meeting page #
Students who open a meeting from a course get a Back to course link at the top.

Someone who is not enrolled and opens the meeting link directly sees a locked card instead.

Troubleshooting #
The Add to a course card does not appear in the meeting form #
The card only loads when ZooMeet Pro is active and a supported LMS is active and switched on.
Check that:
- LifterLMS and ZooMeet Pro are installed and activated under Plugins.
- The LifterLMS switch is on under ZooMeet > Integrations.
- You reloaded the meeting form after turning the switch on.
“No courses yet” #
The course picker lists courses you can edit, and instructors see only their own courses. Create a course with Create a course in LifterLMS, or ask an admin to make you the course author.
The Zoom live sessions box or Zoom live session field is missing in wp-admin #
The LifterLMS switch is off, or the box is hidden in the editor’s screen options. Turn the switch on, then show the box from the editor’s Preferences or Screen Options.
The Zoom live session field is missing in the Course Builder #
The field is a settings group in the lesson panel, not in the course outline. Click Settings under the lesson, then scroll to the Zoom live session group at the bottom of the panel.
The Zoom Events tab opens a “not found” page #
Go to Settings > Permalinks and click Save Changes once. This rebuilds the LifterLMS dashboard addresses.
The Zoom Events tab is missing #
The tab shows only for administrators and users with a LifterLMS instructor role. Students do not get it; they find their classes on the course page. Check the user’s role under Users.
A meeting I picked was not saved #
You can attach only meetings you host or created, to courses you can edit. A meeting someone else attached can be removed from a course, but not swapped for another of theirs. Ask the meeting host or an administrator.
Students see “For students of this course” #
The meeting is set to Course students, and this user is not enrolled in any of its courses. Enroll the student, or set Who can join to Anyone with link. Page access from ZooMeet settings still applies.
Students see Details but no Join now #
Join now shows only while the session is live, between its start and end time. Until then the row shows Details, which opens the meeting page with its countdown.
An old session disappeared from the list #
Long lists fold extra sessions under “N more sessions”. Live sessions come first, then upcoming ones from the soonest, then ended ones.
Frequently asked questions #
Can I use LifterLMS and Tutor LMS or Academy LMS together? #
No. They clash on the same site. Run one of them per site.
Does a live session count toward course progress? #
No. The meeting is shown inside a lesson or on the course page. It is never a curriculum item, so progress does not change.
Can one meeting be on several courses? #
Yes. Add one row per course or lesson in the Add to a course card, or pick it in each course’s Zoom live sessions box.
Can a lesson hold more than one meeting? #
No. One meeting per lesson. A course page can list many.
Does it work with the LifterLMS block layout? #
Yes. The Live sessions list appears above the Course Syllabus block, and above the syllabus on the classic layout.
What happens when I delete a meeting? #
ZooMeet removes it from every course and lesson it was attached to.
Security best practices #
- Keep Who can join on Course students for paid or private courses, so only enrolled students reach the meeting page.
- Give the LifterLMS Instructor role only to people who should schedule classes.
- Keep your Zoom Client Secret private, and never paste it into a course, lesson or page.
- Keep LifterLMS, ZooMeet, ZooMeet Pro and WordPress updated.
You’re ready to run live Zoom classes in LifterLMS #
Your LifterLMS courses now list their live sessions, and a lesson can show its own class card. Only enrolled students can join, and the Zoom link stays behind the meeting page. Instructors schedule classes from their LifterLMS dashboard without wp-admin. Next, set up another LMS or fine-tune your meeting pages.
