How to Sell Google Meet Meetings with WooCommerce

You have a live webinar or masterclass and want people to pay before they get the Google Meet link. With GoodMeet, you link a WooCommerce product to the meeting and take payment at checkout. Each buyer then gets access to the meeting and its Meet link.

Buyers pay in your shop, and each completed order adds them to the meeting. They get the meeting details by email and in My Account, and the meeting page knows they already have a ticket.

By the end of this guide, you will have:

  • WooCommerce, GoodMeet and GoodMeet Pro working together
  • A meeting that hides its join link until buyers sign in
  • A product page that sells one seat in the meeting
  • A ticket-style meeting page with a price and a buy bar
  • Buyers who receive their meeting details by email and in My Account

Estimated setup time: 10 minutes. Nothing changes for buyers until you link a product to a meeting.

Note: Requires GoodMeet Pro and WooCommerce.

Before you begin #

Make sure you have:

  • An administrator account on your WordPress site
  • A Google account you can connect to GoodMeet
  • A WooCommerce payment method set up
  • A meeting to sell, or permission to create one
  • WooCommerce Bookings, only if you sell appointments with a time slot the buyer picks

Let’s get started.

Step 1: Install WooCommerce #

First, make sure WooCommerce is installed and activated. GoodMeet uses WooCommerce products, cart and orders to sell meetings.

  1. In the WordPress admin menu, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin.
  2. Search for WooCommerce.
  3. Click Install Now, then Activate.
Add Plugins screen with the WooCommerce search result highlighted
Installing WooCommerce from the WordPress plugin directory.

Step 2: Install and activate GoodMeet #

Like WooCommerce, GoodMeet installs from the plugin directory. Selling meetings lives in GoodMeet Pro, so you add that next.

  1. Go to Plugins > Add New Plugin.
  2. Search for GoodMeet.
  3. Click Install Now, then Activate.
Add Plugins screen with the GoodMeet search result highlighted
Installing the free GoodMeet plugin.

To use the Pro features in this guide, add GoodMeet Pro from inside GoodMeet. There is nothing to upload.

  1. In WordPress admin, open GoodMeet and click Upgrade, then complete the checkout.
  2. Go to GoodMeet > Account. Your license shows there, and GoodMeet offers to install GoodMeet Pro.
  3. Install GoodMeet Pro, then activate it. If GoodMeet shows Activate Pro, click it.

Note: If you already have a license, open GoodMeet > Account and install Pro from there. GoodMeet shows Download Pro when your license is active but Pro is not installed yet.

Step 3: Connect your Google account #

GoodMeet cannot create Meet links or add buyers to the calendar event until it is connected to Google. If you already did this, skip to Step 4.

  1. Go to GoodMeet > Settings and click Connect.
  2. On the Google Cloud Credentials card, upload the JSON file from your Google Cloud project.
  3. Click Continue to Google.
  4. Choose your Google account and approve access.
  5. Check that the card shows Connected.

Read our step-by-step Google setup guide for the full walkthrough, including how to create the JSON file.

Step 4: Turn on the WooCommerce integration #

The integration switch controls every selling feature in this guide. When it is off, products have no Google Meeting tab.

  1. In the WordPress admin menu, go to GoodMeet > Integrations.
  2. Under eCommerce, find WooCommerce.
  3. Switch the toggle on. The card shows Active.

If WooCommerce is not installed, the card shows an install button instead of the switch.

Now comes the main part: preparing the meeting and linking a product to it.

A paid meeting should not show its Google Meet link to everyone. Asking for a sign-in keeps the link for buyers.

  1. Go to GoodMeet > All Meetings and open the meeting with Edit.
  2. Click the Access and controls step. The heading reads Who can join?
  3. Turn on Should register.
  4. Check the Password field. Buyers get this password in their order email and use it to sign in.
  5. Click Update meeting.

Password accepts up to 10 letters and numbers. Keep it, because it goes to every buyer.

Important: With Should register off, the meeting page shows Join Google Meet to every visitor, so anyone can join without buying. Turn it on for paid meetings.

Step 6: Give the meeting the Admit theme (Page design, optional) #

Admit is a meeting page design built for paid meetings. It looks like an admission ticket, with the price on the stub and a buy bar that stays on screen.

  1. In the same meeting, click the Page design step.
  2. Click the Meeting theme field and choose Admit.
  3. Click Update meeting.

Every theme shows a Buy now button on a paid meeting. Admit adds the price and the sticky Buy ticket bar.

Note: Admit is a GoodMeet Pro theme. See Use a different theme for one meeting.

The product is what people buy. Linking it tells GoodMeet which meeting each order gives access to, and tells the meeting page its price.

  1. Go to Products > Add New, or open an existing product.
  2. Set the price in General, for example 49. Tick Virtual, since there is nothing to ship.
  3. In Product data, keep Simple product and click the Google Meeting tab.
  4. Tick Meeting product?
  5. In Meeting, choose the meeting to sell.
  6. Click Publish or Update.

The Meeting list shows published meetings created by the product’s author.

Tip: Link one product to one meeting. GoodMeet stores the link on both the product and the meeting.

Step 8: Check the product page and cart #

Open the product in your shop as a visitor, so you see what buyers see before they pay.

  1. Check that the page shows the price and Add to cart.
  2. Open the Meeting Details tab. It lists Meeting Title, Start Time and Timezone, plus Meeting recurrence for a recurring meeting.

Buyers can read when the meeting starts before they pay.
  1. Click Add to cart and open the cart.
  2. Check the meeting’s Start time and Time zone under the product name. The block Cart and Checkout pages list them there; the classic cart and checkout show a Meeting Information row instead.
  3. Check that the quantity stays at 1, because one order is one seat.

The plus and minus buttons are disabled for meeting products.

Adding the same meeting twice shows This product is already in your cart. You can only purchase one quantity because it’s a meeting product.

Step 9: Complete the order #

GoodMeet gives the buyer access when the order status becomes Completed. Orders for virtual products often stop at Processing, so check new orders.

  1. Go to WooCommerce > Orders and open the order.
  2. Set Status to Completed.
  3. Click Update.
Edit order screen with Status set to Completed and the Update button highlighted
Completing the order adds the buyer to the meeting and sends the meeting details.

When the order is completed, GoodMeet:

  • adds the billing email to the meeting’s registered attendees, so the buyer can sign in on the meeting page;
  • adds the buyer as a guest on the Google Calendar event;
  • adds a Your Meeting Information table to WooCommerce’s order completed email.

Tip: To complete paid orders without a manual step, use a payment method or extension that marks virtual orders as completed.

Step 10: Publish and check the result #

Open the meeting page in a private browser window. Visitors see the ticket, the price and a sign-in form. There are two ways to buy: Buy now on the stub and Buy ticket in the bar at the bottom.

The sign-in box is titled Sign in for the Meeting. It has Meeting Email, Meeting Password and Sign in to Meeting. A paid meeting has no free register form, so only buyers get in.

On a phone, the same page stacks into one column.

Benefits of using GoodMeet with WooCommerce #

  • Your existing checkout: seats sell through the shop, payment methods and taxes you already run.
  • No guest list to keep: completing an order adds the buyer to the meeting and the Google Calendar event.
  • Link only for buyers: the Join Google Meet button appears only after a buyer signs in with the order email and meeting password.
  • No accidental second purchase: buyers who already have a ticket see You have a ticket for this meeting. instead of a buy button.

What buyers get #

The order email #

The Your Meeting Information table in the completed order email lists:

  • Topic, the meeting title.
  • Email and Password, the details for the sign-in box.
  • Start time and Time Zone. A recurring meeting also lists its recurrence and start times.
  • Meeting Page, with a View Meeting Page link.
  • Google Meet Link, with a Join Google Meet link, when the meeting has one.

A ticket on the meeting page #

Logged-in buyers who already bought the meeting do not see a buy button again. The meeting page shows You have a ticket for this meeting., and the Admit buy bar shows You have a ticket.

My Account #

Logged-in buyers get a Meetings tab in WooCommerce My Account.

  1. Go to My Account and click Meetings.
  2. Check the table: Title, Start time, Status, Email, Password and Actions. Status shows the order status by name, such as Processing or Completed.
  3. Click Join to open the meeting page.

This order is still processing, so the Password column is empty. The password fills in once the order is completed.

A buyer with no meeting orders sees You have no meetings yet. Meetings you buy show up here. with a Browse products button that opens your shop.

Sell appointments with WooCommerce Bookings #

If you sell time slots, such as a one-to-one consultation, WooCommerce Bookings can create a fresh Google Meet meeting for each booking.

Note: Requires GoodMeet Pro and the WooCommerce Bookings plugin. On the Integrations screen, the WooCommerce Bookings card shows Install WooCommerce Bookings until the plugin is active.

  1. Go to GoodMeet > Integrations and turn on WooCommerce Bookings.
  2. Open a product with the Bookable product type and click the Google Meet Booking tab.
  3. Tick Google Meet Booking Product? GoodMeet creates meetings only for products with this box ticked.
  4. Set Meeting Duration in hours and minutes. Leave both at zero for a 40 minute meeting.
  5. Tick Meeting Thumbnail? to use the product image on the meeting page.
  6. Add a Meeting Description. The hint reads Enter your meeting information.
  7. Click Update.

When a booking for a ticked product is paid or confirmed, or its order moves to Processing or Completed, GoodMeet:

  • creates a Google Meet meeting at the booked start time, titled “Google Meet Session for” plus the product name and booking number;
  • gives the meeting its own random password;
  • emails the buyer Your Google Meet booking is confirmed, with the start time, password, booking ID and a Join Google Meet button;
  • adds Join Link and Meeting Platform columns to the buyer’s Bookings list in My Account.

When a booking is cancelled or deleted, GoodMeet deletes its meeting, unless another live booking still uses the same meeting. Cancelled bookings do not count as live.

Troubleshooting #

Buyers paid but cannot sign in on the meeting page #

The order is still Processing or On hold. Buyers are added to the meeting only when the order is Completed.

  1. Go to WooCommerce > Orders and open the order.
  2. Set Status to Completed and click Update.

The sign-in form says “Invalid name or password” #

The email typed is not the billing email of a completed order for this meeting. Ask the buyer to use the exact email from their order.

The sign-in form says “Invalid password” #

The password does not match the meeting’s Password. Changing the password after a sale makes older emails wrong. Send buyers the current password, or set the old one back.

I do not see Buy now or Buy ticket on the meeting page #

The buy buttons are hidden for some viewers and some meetings.

Check that:

  • You are not logged in as an administrator. Administrators never see the buy buttons, so open the page in a private window.
  • The viewer has not already bought the meeting. Buyers see You have a ticket instead.
  • The meeting has not ended.
  • Meeting product? is ticked on the product.

The Google Meeting tab is missing on the product #

The WooCommerce integration is off, or the product is not a Simple product. Turn on WooCommerce under GoodMeet > Integrations, and set the product type to Simple product.

My meeting is missing from the Meeting list on the product #

The list shows published meetings by the product’s author only. Publish the meeting, or create the product with the same user who owns the meeting.

A booking did not create a Google Meet meeting #

GoodMeet creates booking meetings only for products with Google Meet Booking Product? ticked.

Check that:

  • WooCommerce Bookings is on under GoodMeet > Integrations.
  • Google Meet Booking Product? is ticked on the bookable product, and you clicked Update.
  • The booking is paid or confirmed, or its order is Processing or Completed.

Frequently asked questions #

Can a buyer purchase more than one seat in one order? #

No. A meeting product is limited to a quantity of one per cart.

Do buyers see the meeting time before they pay? #

Yes. The product’s Meeting Details tab shows it, and the cart and checkout list the Start time and Time zone under the product.

Does the buyer get a Google Calendar invite? #

Yes. Completing the order adds the buyer’s billing email as a guest on the meeting’s Google Calendar event.

Can I sell a recurring meeting? #

Yes. The product page, the cart and the order email show the next session and a description of the series.

Can buyers join without an account on my site? #

Yes. Guests sign in on the meeting page with their order email and the meeting password. Only buyers with an account see the Meetings tab in My Account and the You have a ticket message.

Do I need the Admit theme to sell meetings? #

No. Every theme shows a Buy now button on a paid meeting. Admit adds the price and a buy bar.

Security best practices #

  • Always turn on Should register for paid meetings. Without it, anyone who finds the page can join.
  • Treat the meeting password like a ticket. It goes to every buyer, so change it if it leaks and send buyers the new one.
  • Complete only paid orders. Completing an order gives access, so check payment first.
  • Limit who can edit products. Anyone who can edit a product can link it to a meeting.

You’re ready to sell meetings #

Your meeting now sells as a WooCommerce product. Each completed order adds the buyer to the meeting, and buyers find their details in the order email and in My Account. Next, let vendors sell their own meetings or pick the right page design.
